Ed and Rich

Again the ash cloud was threatening from the Icelandic volcano. The boys were due to leave here at 2145 on Sunday. Half way down to the twin cities and the airport we stopped at Mungo's in St. Cloud, for a meal. This is a restaurant where you help yourself to a bowl of meat, vegetables, oil and sauces (your choices) and then it is cooked on a large hotplate by noisy young people who throw onions etc. around as they cook your meal. It is a really enjoyable experience and lots of fun. As we left there we heard on the radio that there was a chance that Heathrow may be shutting. We needed to check on the internet, which we did and continued down to the airport. When the boys arrived at the airport Heathrow had been shut. but the plane was going to take off at the normal time (it had come from Los Angeles)and then they were going to decide what would happen as they got nearer to England, but they thought they would get diverted to Paris. They also told them they would help them to get to London but would get no hotel room!! As it was they were able to land in London, by noon the next day which was their landing time, Heathrow had opened.
